Pin extensions and use extension popups

Extension actions belong to the active Space and current page. Pin the ones you use often; leave occasional tools in Site Controls.

Open an extension action​

  1. Select Site Controls beside the address field.
  2. Find the extension’s icon in the extension action area.
  3. Select the icon to run its action or open its popup.

If the extension provides a popup, Crest presents the extension’s real WebExtension UI near the action you selected. Popup behavior still depends on the APIs used by that extension.

Pin an action to the sidebar​

  1. Open Site Controls.
  2. Point to the extension action.
  3. Select Pin Extension.

Pinned extension icons appear in their own strip below the address field for that Space. Select a pinned icon to use its action without reopening Site Controls.

To remove it from the strip, point to the action and select Unpin Extension. Unpinning does not disable or uninstall the extension.

Open an options page​

If the extension provides an options page, expand it in Crest Settings → Extensions and select Open Options. Crest presents the extension's own WebExtension settings UI in the Space that owns the installation.

Use extension side panels​

Crest supports compatible Chrome side panels and Firefox sidebars on Mac. Open the panel through the extension’s action or menu. A panel can belong to the Space or to a particular tab, depending on how the extension defines it.

Tab-specific panels stay with their pages and return when you select that tab again. An extension badge on the tab’s favicon identifies a tab with its own panel. Switching Spaces keeps the panel and its signed-in session within the owning Space.

Support still depends on the extension’s APIs. Check compatibility and known limitations if a panel does not behave as expected.

Space-local placement

Pinning is independent per Space and per device. A Work toolbar can stay focused on work tools while Personal or another device uses a different set.
